Mainichi Daily News "Devising a Solar Electric Wheelchair" 3 Feb. 1997

Mr. Shunya Susuki (42 year old), a Fukuoka City Hall officer in charge of planning Hakataza Theater, is fond of making all kinds of things, and is a frequent exhibitor of the Fukuoka City Hall Employees' Exhibition.

For the past seven years, he has been working on producing his original solar electric cars with an electric motor connected to a roof solar panel (12V).

He is proud of his second solar electric car "S-2", 3m long, which ran at a speed of 30 km/h in its test run. Its wheels and gears are recycled products from abandoned bicycles.

He realized that green cars were necessary when he saw black rain traces on his white car and realized how polluted the air is.

For the coming aging society, he is now into devising a solar electric wheelchair with a solar roof panel sunshade.
