The process to produce a silicone mold (face) from the plaster model
made on 16 February 2009
(1 March 2009)
On 26 February 2009, while I was placing the plaster face model onto the robot body to check its total balance, I accidentally dropped it. Naturally it was broken into pieces. I put the pieces together to repaire it, and extended its neck a little. I filed it to make its surface smooth.
After I coated its surface with separating compound and put it into a box (a drawer), I filled the space around it with buffer material.
I spread oil clay over the buffer materials.
I covered the face with plastic wrap to keep the separating compound from wearing out.
I covered the face with paper clay 1-2 cm thick.
I poured plaster over the paper clay from its top and I removed paper clay after plaster was hardened.
I poured 2 kg of RTV2K (1406) from the opening of the plaster mold.
The mold (face) made of the silicone was completed after I removed it from the outside plaster mold and the inside plaster face eight hours later.
