Temporary Shelters of Fukuoka Tower in Asian-Pacific Exposition
designed
by
Shunya Susuki
These were temporary shelters for a procession of gests waiting to
enter Fukuoka Tower during Asian-Pacific Exposition in the year 1989.
The motif of roofs was waves or birds of the sea in front of the exposition
site.
Each shelter has a roof like Japanese tile roof in shape. So, we could
place them successively.
I made use of gutters (factory products) as foundations and benches to shorten the term of construction.
I recollected that the architect Shoei Yoh said to me "You've done
a good job".
I saw him when I worked at the Ministry of Construction in the year of 1985,
and I was working with him while constructing the facilities of the exposition. |
